The Huon Domestic Violence Service employs community engagement strategies to implement ‘Say no Violence’ awareness events and activities in the Huon Valley.
Training and Community Education
The Huon Domestic Violence Service is able to offer a range of training and education services that can be tailored to suit organisational or community needs.
The service focuses on providing training that targets;
Early intervention and prevention workshops focussing on school aged young people based on the principles of healthy relationships.
Mentors in Violence Prevention – (MVP) training for community and service providers aims to educate and support community members to become active bystanders towards eliminating violence.
The training provides practical strategies on how to intercept/ react safely when witnessing family violence.
Community Events
The Huon Domestic Violence Service also participates in and implements events and activities such as White Ribbon Day, Rural Student Doctors Program and Wired for Health
Understanding and Responding to Domestic Violence Service Provider Training – this training is aimed at informing local service providers on the complexities of domestic violence, identifying and responding to domestic violence and increasing referral capacity.
